Presented by the Steel Cities Region SCCA in association with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

DRIVERS
This school is for drivers that need a competition school for the first step in obtaining an SCCA Full Competition License or SCCA Vintage Competition License. The PVGP does accept this SCCA license to race at our events. It is also helpful for drivers that have taken a break from racing and want to get back into competitive racing. Joe Teplitz, PVGP Competition Director, is the chief instructor so if you plan to race with the PVGP and do not have a competition license you should definitely attend this school.

FLAGGERS
Volunteers are the backbone of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and the SCCA. They work the corners, the grid, safety crew and timing/scoring. Their training and certification come through Steel Cities Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)

New volunteers can learn how to be a corner worker/flagger by attending Saturday June 3 from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm to get hands on experience and training from an SCCA instructor.

All required forms can be obtained, and Novice Permit application can be filled online at SCCA.com.  Drivers with other organization’s accepted competition licenses need a weekend SCCA membership which can be purchased at the track.  Please call us to help determine if your license is acceptable.  Typically, licenses requiring a physical are accepted.  Drivers with previous racing experience can contact us as we can determine if a waiver or a reduction of requirements can be made.  Drivers with previous experience wanting a vintage license should avail themselves of this option.

Sunday June 4, 2023 Ohio/Pennsylvania Time Trial Challenge powered by Hawk Performance

On the South Track at Pitt Race. NEOhio and Steel Cities Region SCCA are proud to present the first, Ohio/Pennsylvania Time Trial Challenge powered by Hawk Performance. Known as the OPTT Challenge in short, this five-race series seeks to find out who is the fastest driver in our region. “There has always been a rivalry between the Cleveland/Cincinnati area and Pittsburgh, and coincidentally, some of the best Time Trial drivers in all of SCCA are represented by both regions.” commented Dan Dennehy-Rodriguez, long time Time Trial driver and coach, “…frankly, we have been wanting to put something together to unify the two regions for some time, and this inaugural challenge is shaping up to be a great way to bring together some incredible racing.” This Challenge will have four points paying events and shall use a points-based system designed to value both participation and performance.
