Race Flags

The Vintage Motorsports Council has revised the VMC Flag Sheet to clarify long-standing areas of confusion, update outdated language and better align with current practices across vintage racing. The most significant updates focus on the use of red and black flags to stop racing and yellow flags to govern the resumption of racing conditions.

The flag sheet below reflects best practices and represents the broad consensus of contemporary flag usage within the vintage racing community. All vintage racing organizations are strongly encouraged to adopt these standards. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix adheres to these guidelines.
