RACERS PAGE
With the Panther Hollow Bridge set to open for the PVGP this summer, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Race Weekend returns July 18–19 to the full, legendary street circuit in Schenley Park. The City of Pittsburgh just announced that the bridge will be temporarily opened for the PVGP, followed by rolling closures through August. Racers will once again thunder across the bridge, thread past the park’s stone walls, and charge through the golf course in front of 100,000 spectators.
As the nation’s only remaining vintage street race, the PVGP features legendary marques including MG, Porsche, Lotus, BMW, Austin-Healey, Triumph, and Jaguar. Vehicle eligibility has been expanded through 1987, updating select traditional marques and welcoming additional sports cars to the grid, with final approval by the PVGP Competition Committee. In addition, the Sports Cars Over 2.0 Liters class has been expanded to 3.3 Liters.
We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we rerouted the circuit last year and staged a hillclimb. With the bridge reopening, we are excited to return to our world-famous course and restore the full Schenley Park racing experience.

New Track Improvements
Significant sections of roadway within Schenley Park have recently been repaved, offering smoother surfaces and improved consistency in key areas. The massive stone wall inside the Serpentine that collapsed in 2019 has been rebuilt, and we look forward to racing through the thrilling ‘S’ turns without the need for caution flags. These upgrades are expected to enhance drivability while maintaining the technical character of our street course that racers know so well.
Start/Finish Line Returns to Phipps
The Start/Finish Line returns to its original 1983 home alongside Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, restoring this iconic landmark as the centerpiece of on-track action. The move not only honors our heritage but also creates significantly more viewing space, giving more fans the chance to experience the thrill of race starts and checkered flags up close. Adding to the excitement, our Special Exhibition Groups will be paddocked in front of Phipps, featuring Drifters, the BMW Ring Taxi, and Collegiate Formula Racers. They’ll take to the track during the lunch break on both Saturday and Sunday, delivering high-energy demonstrations that fans won’t want to miss.
Test & Tune at Nelson Ledges – June 12
Dial it in before race weekend. Thanks to the Allegheny Region Porsche Club of America, PVGP racers have access to a dedicated Test & Tune at Nelson Ledges on Friday, June 12. A run group has been reserved exclusively for PVGP vintage racers, with four on-track sessions to get your car sorted and race-ready for Schenley Park. Please note: Open-wheel cars are not eligible due to insurance restrictions.
The cost is just $300 (Note: This fee will appear as a separate charge to your credit card.) You can register through the PVGP MSR link.
