July 30, 2024 PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association thanks everyone who made our Historics at Pitt Race this past weekend a roaring success.

The racers provided the excitement on the track from Thursday through Sunday afternoon. It takes a great deal of cooperation to stage a race of this size and the Vintage Racer Group, Historic Stock Car Racing Association, Vintage Sports 2000 North America and the GT40 Reunion all contributed by bringing in over 250 fantastic cars. This is amateur racing at its best.

Joe Teplitz, PVGP Competition Director, exclaimed, “The event was amazing. We had great weather, more fans, and intense and exciting racing. We ran a total of 61 sessions over the three days. Because of the hard work of the volunteers, with the support of the drivers, a mind-boggling 58 of those sessions were under the green flag from start to checker. Thank you to our partners from Pitt Race, Steel Cities Region SCCA, and our sponsors.”

Bill Stoler’s images below are just a glimpse into the action in Beaver County each July—this was the 21st year of PVGP racing at this world-class facility.

The GT40 Reunion was a wonderful opportunity to showcase one of the world’s most iconic race cars and fulfill dreams for those who got to experience a lap of the track in one of them. GT40 owners generously offered laps at lunchtime, and a half dozen raced with us all weekend.

Rick Muck, Managing Director of AutoventureUSA which produced the Reunion in conjunction with the PVGP, thanks the staff and volunteers involved in making the event an outstanding success. Rick stated, “The 60th Reunion was an incredible event with over 70 cars attending and huge owner and enthusiast participation. The on and off-track events were a rare opportunity to interact with these historic cars and their owners that will not be duplicated for some time.”

James Dolan, PVGP Chairman, said, ‘The PVGP Historics at Pitt Race was a tremendous success. Our goal to expand the field and quality of cars was exceeded.  Race control and track crews worked flawlessly to allow every race to be on time and uninterrupted. The drivers had a great weekend of clean, competitive racing in front of great fans. We hosted the Vintage Sports 2000 North America and Historic Stock Car Racing Association groups, which brought the thunder of NASCAR to the PVGP Historics. I want to thank Joe Nemechek for assembling such a great group of drivers and cars.

PVGP fans experienced the Reunion with a collection of Ford GT40s and GT’s on track throughout the weekend. The PittRace facility continues to impress everyone with its excellent mix of track and facilities. It is one of America’s best race tracks and every driver comments how impressive the entire PVGP experience is.’

About the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
Founded in 1983, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Motorsport Festival features two weekends of racing action. The first weekend is the PVGP Historics at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. The second weekend is racing through a 2.33-mile road course set on the streets of Schenley Park. Between our race weekends, we stage car shows, parties, road rallies, a black-tie formal, a new Garden Party at Phipps and a Driver Reception. The PVGP is driven by 1,200 volunteers dedicated to staging the country’s largest and longest-running vintage race event. It is also a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide residential care, treatment and support for people with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities – donating $6.7 million.
