Volunteer Spotlight: Jim Kinest, Volunteer since 2020

Jim speaking about his experience with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix: "I was a long time PVGP spectator since its earliest years, and easily realized that “someone” had to volunteer their talents so I would have an enjoyable time each summer. For many years, I attended with my best friend Mark and we had our special routine where we would spend all day on both weekend days at Pitt Race and Schenley. We watched many races, and looked at thousands of amazing race cars as well as those special ones in the Car Shows. Sadly, when he passed in 2020, I knew the PVGP would never be the same for me so in Mark’s honor, I became an involved volunteer where I could be one of the “someones” so others could have an enjoyable event.

Now, being on the Car Show Committee, I am working with those I met many years ago as a spectator and see firsthand their dedication for the event and the passion for the charities we support. Seeing the ambassadors and those we directly support from the charities throughout the summer further feeds the desire to continue my support for the PVGP. I have been able to bring other new volunteers to the events by simply saying to come out just once, lend a hand for a few hours, then enjoy the event. It is gratifying to see them return in subsequent years as they see the relevance of our internationally recognized 10 day motorsports festival."
