Lunchtime Exhibitions Bring New Excitement to Schenley Park
The 2026 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix brought even more excitement to Schenley Park with a series of lunchtime exhibitions that gave spectators something new to enjoy between the vintage races. From spectacular drifting demonstrations to thrilling BMW Ring Taxi rides and innovative collegiate race cars, the exhibitions showcased the diversity of motorsports and introduced a new generation of automotive enthusiasts to the PVGP.
Drifting Takes to the Streets
Professional drifters brought a completely different style of driving to the challenging Schenley Park circuit, thrilling spectators with controlled slides, tire smoke and precision car control. Their demonstrations added a modern motorsports element to Race Weekend and proved to be a crowd favorite.
BMW Ring Taxi Rides for Charity
Professional BMW driver Mike Renner brought the excitement of the legendary Nürburgring Ring Taxi experience to Pittsburgh, taking passengers on thrilling laps of the Schenley Park circuit while raising valuable funds for the PVGP’s charities.
The exhibition combined high-performance driving with the PVGP’s charitable mission, giving passengers a memorable experience while supporting individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Collegiate Racers Showcase the Future
Formula SAE teams from area universities brought their student-designed and built race cars to Schenley Park, demonstrating the engineering, technology and creativity of the next generation of motorsports talent.
These exhibitions provided a glimpse into the future of racing while connecting students with the vintage racing community and thousands of automotive enthusiasts.
Looking Ahead to 2027
The enthusiastic response to the 2026 exhibitions has us looking forward to expanding this programming in 2027. With BMW returning as Marque of the Year and the BMW Car Club of America’s O’Fest coming to Pittsburgh, we’re exploring additional opportunities for exciting on-track demonstrations and activities.
The PVGP will also introduce its first three-day Race Weekend, July 16–18, 2027, creating new opportunities for racing and special exhibitions on Friday.
