Accolades for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix continue to build as Classic Motorsports Magazine has honored the PVGP as a winner in its inaugural 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards.
“The PVGP faced a year of perseverance with the closure of the Panther Hollow Bridge. Designing a new race course and introducing a hillclimb event allowed us to rise to the challenge and deliver a successful—and thrilling—race season,” said Joe Teplitz, PVGP Competition Director. “To receive recognition from not just one, but now two highly respected organizations in our industry is a testament to our volunteers and their unwavering dedication.”
The 2025 season required a remarkable level of innovation and coordination. PVGP volunteers led the redesign of the racecourse to ensure it remained both safe and competitive, while also developing an all-new hillclimb that gave spectators a fresh vantage point for high-speed action. Their commitment ensured that the PVGP’s racing tradition remained strong despite significant logistical hurdles.
This award marks yet another prestigious international honor for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The PVGP was also recently named a finalist for “Motorsport Event of the Year” by the International Historic Motoring Awards—its second consecutive nomination.
“To win an Editors’ Choice Award from such a respected publication as Classic Motorsports is truly an honor,” said PVGP Chairman James Dolan. “As a volunteer-driven organization, this recognition belongs to the dedicated people who bring the PVGP to life each year. Their passion, hard work, and expertise allow us to create unforgettable experiences for racers, spectators, and the entire Pittsburgh community.”
Planning for the 2026 event is already underway, with Schenley Park Race Weekend scheduled for July 18–19 as the PVGP enters its 44th year. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix remains the largest motorsport festival in North America and the only vintage race run on city streets. The event proudly supports local nonprofit partners helping individuals and families impacted by autism and intellectual disabilities.
