PVGP Historics Race Groups
NOTE: On October 1, Pittsburgh International Race Complex announced its pending sale, with the new owners choosing not to continue motorsports operations. The PVGP is already planning for 2026 and will provide an update in the near future.
Under 1.5 Liters
Small-bore production cars up to 1985. Typical examples: Mini Cooper, Triumph Spitfire, Fiat, Turner, Austin-Healey Sprite, MG Midget and MGTD. Open wheel Formula 3 and Formula Vee, examples include Lynx, Caldwell, Autodynamics and Zink. All entries are subject to PVGP approval.
1.5L to 2.0L (Pre-1975)
For 2025 this group will be split into Tin Tops and Roadsters. Medium-bore production and special cars up to 1985. Typical examples: Alfa Romeo, Austin-Healey 100-4, BMW 2002, Datsun 510, Elva Courier, Fiat, Ginetta, Triumph GT6, TR7, MGA, MGB, TVR Vixen, Porsche, Lotus 7, Europa and Elan, Volvo 122 and Volkswagen. All entries are subject to PVGP approval.
Large-Bore & Ground Pounders
Large-Bore: Eligible production and special cars typically from 2.0 to 3.0 liters from 1985 and earlier. Typical examples: Austin-Healey 100, Datsun 240Z and Porsche.
Ground Pounders are large displacement production and special cars over 3.0 liters. Eligible cars up to 1985 with Mercury Cougar, Mustang, Shelby, GT40, Cobra, Corvette, Camaro, Sunbeam Tiger, and Jaguar E-Type.
Formula Ford Challenge Series
Hosted by the Formula Ford Challenge Series at the VRG. All cars must have a Ford Engine per SCCA or Monoposto rules and must run on vintage Formula Ford treaded tires. There will be a class within the overall race group for most Formula Fords manufactured between 1967 and 1981. Post-1981 Fords subject to approval.
Triumph – MG Challenge
Announcing the new Triumph-MG Challenge. The friendly rivalry between the Triumph and MG faithful will be put to the test with racers from Coventry and Abingdon battling for bragging rights at a track that is ideal for these British racing legends. DETAILS
