The PVGP is pleased to announce the Triumph-MG Challenge will return to the PVGP Historics at Pitt Race July 10 – 12, 2026

We are excited to announce that the Triumph-MG Challenge was a great success in its inaugural year and will return to the 2026 PVGP Historics at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

A big thank-you goes out to everyone who participated in the first-ever 2025 Triumph-MG Challenge. Thirty-five racers took part in the spirited rivalry between the Triumph and MG faithful, with Coventry and Abingdon well represented in a battle for bragging rights on a track perfectly suited to these British racing legends. Both marques have proudly supported our Historics since the event began in 2004.

Looking ahead to 2026, all cars will practice and race in their regularly assigned PVGP Race Groups by engine size during the three-day weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, a Triumph vs. MG feature race will once again highlight the schedule. Marty Sukey and Eric Russell are developing a points system to determine the winning marque for the Saturday team trophy, while Sunday’s race will celebrate individual winners.

2025 Wrap-Up

Saturday’s race was a team race where each driver was awarded a point based on their finishing position, and the team with the lowest number of points takes the trophy. Sunday’s challenge race was a winner-take-all race for the trophy. The grid on Saturday is determined by each driver’s fastest times in Friday’s qualifying sessions. Sunday’s grid is based on the finishing order of Saturday’s team race. 34 racers qualified for the 2025 Saturday team race, 15 MGs and 19 Triumphs. The top 5 qualifying positions were

  1. Donald Dickey 1963 MGB
  2. Brian Dolan 1971 Vitesse
  3. David GOTT 1962 TR4
  4. Jason Sukey 1971 GT6
  5. John Studuhar 1959 TR3 Special

The 2025 team race started off at 1:30 in sunny skies and 90ish degree heat.  There were epic battles for all positions throughout the race. The lead position changed hands between the top 5 cars multiple times throughout the race.

Once the team scores were tallied, team TRIUMPH took home the trophy!

Sunday’s winnakes all race started with the top 5 grid positions being all Triumphs. It was another hard, hard battle for the entire 25-minute race with Jesse Darrow ending up taking home the trophy with his Spitfire. The top 3 finishing Triumphs were

  1. Jesse Darrow Spitfire
  2. Scott Janzen GT6
  3. David Gott TR4

The top 3 finishing MGs were

  1. Donald Dickey MGB
  2. Marie Stiles MGB
  3. Jeff Bare MGB

The 2026 event will build upon the success of the 2025 event, with Triumph and MG street car clubs joining us under the British car pavilion located in front of the pro shop. We expect the racer grid count to increase also with the MG’s coming out in full force to attempt retake the team trophy. Come and join us in July.

About Pitt Race

Experience the heart-pounding thunder of the PVGP Historics at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Since 2004, racers across the country have come to the 2.8-mile purpose-built track 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh for fierce competition between the legends of the 60s and early 70s.

Catering to sports cars, formula cars, motorcycles and more, the main track complex offers three different configurations. The North Track, initially opened in 2002, is 1.6 miles long, and the South Track, added in 2015, covers 1.2 miles. The whole course is 2.78 miles long with 19 turns and features significant elevation changes, following the natural terrain that winds throughout the 427-acre property. Both courses have been completely resurfaced and can be combined or run independently. Pitt Race has eight garages for rent adjacent to the North Track paddock area and near the Events Center. The garage bays are equipped with roll-up garage doors and are available for rent during the PVGP. Track video on YouTube
