The Grand Prix’s own Mike Connolly was awarded the prestigious Dewey Dellinger award in Denver on November 10th. Mike has been a PVGP volunteer since the beginning. He has served on our Board of Directors, our Executive Committee and was also the President of the Executive Committee. Mike was the Race Director for decades and is still very active with the PVGP serving on the Competition Committee and volunteering at both of our race weekends. Congratulations Mike!
This prestigious award, periodically awarded by the Vintage Motorsports Council, honors the memory of Dewey Dellinger, the first President of the VMC. Dewey was known as a dedicated pioneer, innovator and leader with a free spirit. The award recognizes individuals who have provided significant contributions to the sport of vintage racing and who have demonstrated many of Dewey’s traits.
About the Vintage Motorsports Council
In 1988 it was recognized that there was a need to help support and coordinate the fast-growing sport of vintage racing. Thus the Vintage Motorsports Council was formed as a coordinating body for all the organizations devoted to vintage racing. It is the intent of the VMC to provide its members with a forum to address matters impacting the continued growth and health of vintage motor sports. The Council has arranged for delegates from each member organization to meet twice each year to discuss and provide solutions to our mutual industry challenges and opportunities.
